Purple, Black, Blue and a little thought…

My favorite part of Denver is, by far, the Highlands. I absolutely LOVE the vibe of the neighborhood and the bustling of all the bars and restaurants. Plus, it seems so diverse (at least to a person who lives in the middle of suburbia). There are restaurants you wouldn’t typically see in my town: Ceviche, Tapas, etc.

I love going bold when I head downtown. Bright colors, and interesting patterns are my go-to choices for what to wear out.

Here are the elements:
{Skirt: Forever 21} {Clutch: Express}
{ Santa Fe Sunset Bracelet: Jewelmint} {Pearl Bracelet: Art of the Flower} {Watch: ?}
I snuck in a little bit of red. {Sandals: Charming Charlie}
Final Product: I LOVE this house. It’s so obnoxiously purple. How can you not love it…? {Shirt: Charming Charlie} {Boyfriend Sweater: Express}

And here is a little thought:

I’ve been sort of freaking out about getting older lately. I’m 23 now and in 3 months, I’ll be 24. I know this is totally irrational, because I am in the “prime” of my life. But I really do get a little worried about what I’m doing with my future. What will be my career, who will I end up with, and what about my health (I have back pain now, but what about in 20 years?)?? It’s really hard watching your friends get married (every time I see a new wedding album on FB, I get so annoyed) and being in a place where you realistically know you can’t have that. Not yet anyway.

So what’s a girl to do? What would you do? I have friends who sit down and make lists about their goals for the next 5 years and friends that just go along with the flow. What is the right way to handle getting older though, I wonder.

Regardless of where I end up, what I will do, and who I will marry, I am reminded of the Bible verse:

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”

Matthew 6:34

This should be my new mantra. Seriously.

Boho Grunge

Trying to mix hard core with girly. And trying to look tough (ha).

I am not tough. I cry when I squish a bug – I swear. I’m probably the biggest baby I know. However, that doesn’t stop me from trying to dress tough! [I'm laughing as I write this]. I really enjoy mixing feminine with edgy pieces of clothing. The jacket is such a good find, because the details (i.e., the buttons and zipper) on it are super “rock-star”-esque.

I love these earrings. This was such a great find at Forever 21. I love that I can wear them out, or even wear them casually.

These adorable sandals are from Express.

This maxi dress was the perfect fit for me! It’s so hard to find a great size for a short person like me. Whats up with my facial expression though…? I look confused.

Lookin’ Tough. (Haha I know, I know… I’m not that funny).

Have a great Sunday!

Faberge Fingertips

I had posted about Faberge eggs here a while ago, and I felt a little inspired recently to paint my nails with that purple egg in mind. I’m no beauty expert or professional nail painter, so this is a super easy trick.

1) Paint your nails with a thin layer of a clear polish base. I used Sally Hansen’s Miracle Cure polish. I used it for my base layer and top.

2) Pick your shade. I chose a Forever 21 nail polish in Magenta. This wasn’t the best quality, and the brush was tricky to work with, but I really liked the color.

3) Whip out your handy dandy Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen (mine’s in silver). I just carefully made little dots all over each nail.

And that’s all there is to it!

Sunday’s Best

Sunday's Best

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! Whether you guys are sleeping in, or waking up to go do whatever activity, Sunday is a great day to have an excuse to dress up.

My family goes to church every Sunday morning, so I have lots of opportunities to class up my act. When I was growing up, my church friends would complain about their parents making them wear skirts or dresses, but I honestly liked having a reason to wear heels, a dress and curl my hair. My mama, no matter what our financial situation was at the time, made it her personal ritual to pick out her most beautiful clothes, and have a stylish hairdo. Besides, most of the week we’re in jeans, so why not make Sunday a fashion statement?

This outfit, I think, would be quite suitable for a church event, or any semi-casual occasion. Modest, feminine, and extremely classy. I love the nude colors with black. Plus, polka dots and pearls can class up any wardrobe. And even another perk is that it is so easy to find similar elements, included in this post, almost in any store.

What do you guys think? Email me pics of your Sunday’s best at girasoleblog@gmail.com and maybe next Sunday, you will see a familiar face or two!

EDIT: Sorry, I hadn’t realized how bad the original layout of this post was! Hopefully this is more to your guys’ liking!
