{Little Details} Warmth

I think I can safely say that the bad weather is behind us. With that in mind, I’ve been getting excited for the warmer days to come. The trees are going to be blooming, the birds are going to incessantly chirp (damn birds), and I am going to be finding time for hiking and outdoorsy activities.

Colorful Shoes1. One thing that I just can’t wait is to regularly start wearing more heels and colorful ones at that.

Spring colors2. Along those lines, my colorful apparel, that I have been avoiding because my sweaters seemed more appealing, are going to emerge. As a wise friend once said (something along these lines) “You are only young once. We can wear bright and crazy colors and still get away with it.”

Boulder3. I literally live in the most beautiful place in the world. This is my drive into Boulder. Sorry (but I’m not sorry) for all the photos of Colorado…

wine4. I am a huge fan of wine, and it always makes me feel happy when I discover a great bottle. This one was highly recommended by a friend, and it turned out amazing.

5. When I want to really relax, the only way is candles. I know I keep having weekly photos of candles, but seriously, those little guys and I know how to have a good time. They will probably grace the pages of my blog several more times until I feel satisfied that you all know and understand my deep love for these things.

Le Week + End

Hey ya’ll!

I have been SO busy lately. This is basically what I’ve been up to in a small collection of instagram photos.

1) It has been RAINY (which is kinda rare in Colorado). Which has been making me super tired and not willing to go out. 2) We have the best backyard ever. It’s so peaceful and I look at it every morning when I eat my breakfast. 3) Little broski turned 21. We (now) look really different from our photo in this post. 4) Coffee and Bagels/Cream Cheese for breakfast. It’s comes complete with a view of our lovely backyard. 5) I finally found time to paint my nails a pretty coral color. A total summer shade, but I love it. 6) My cat sleeps all day, and she is STILL tired. I’m jealous of her nice life. 7) Blogging is such a fun hobby. 8) I babysat this little dude for a week, and now I can’t get enough. I want to adopt him… But I can’t… And taking him would be considered kidnapping…

What were your weeks like? Are you guys as busy as I have been? What have you been doing, and how do you de-stress??

Have a great day and don’t forget to follow me!

Sunshine After the Rain

Colorado has had the LONGEST summer known to man. Okay, maybe not the longest (I’m pretty sure the Middle East is in a perpetual summer), but it has been HOT. And every single time the temperature dropped, it was just for a day, and the next day, blasting heat.

Now let me tell you. Eastern Europeans are not meant for this sticky, sweaty heat. We like it  fall weather. At least this Russian/Ukrainian does. And I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled I am the weather has officially cooled down. Time for sweaters. And rainy days. Two of my favorite things.

I am not above wearing my favorite outfits over again. I like to have my creative days where I try something new, but I absolutely need my comfort clothes. When the weather is getting colder and requires more layering, I always turn to my favorite jeans, sweater and boots. Simple accessories are what I use to add a unique touch to a comfortable and casual outfit.

I am incapable of taking serious pictures. Either I have a duck dork face on, or my smile turns out too cheesy. Oh well, I tried.

Boots and Jeans. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love these boots. I have been literally waiting all summer for the weather to be appropriate enough to wear them. <3

My new sunglasses. You like?

And of course, Le Procrastinista, doing her thing – procrastinating…

Have an awesome day, and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, FacebookBloglovin‘ and Pinterest!

Healthy Me

Happy, Healthy Wednesday!

First, I want to remind you all to come like my new facebook page (I just started it up!). Also, don’t forget about my twitter, instagram and pinterest. Now, onto more important things.

As you all remember, I am starting a new chapter in my life and that includes my goal to take ownership of my body and health. I’m not obsessed with losing weight, but more about eating what my body needs, and not eating garbage.

One year ago, I became a vegetarian (more accurately a pescatarian since I am addicted to sushi. Yes I know, I’m awful). And I initially lost some weight. But then, I found myself hungry, especially since I didn’t have heavy meats in my diet. I quickly started gaining weight back from eating more and more carbs (ie: potatoes, rice, breads, pastas).  So although I didn’t actually gain any net weight, I didn’t really lose anything either (not that I changed my eating habits to just lose weight I really love animals too.)

This new year as a vegetarian/pescatarian (whatever), I want to really let my diet bring me back to a healthier place. One of the ways I want to do that is to incorporate more fruits and veggies and eliminate more carbs daily.

Anyway, the above picture is what I ordered at Chipotle. I usually get a ton of brown rice in my burrito bowls, but now, I replaced that with romaine lettuce, and found that I still felt full afterwards.

Heres the breakdown:

    • Romaine lettuce (10 cal)
    • Black beans (120 cal)
    • Corn salsa (80 cal)
    • Tomato salsa (20 cal)
    • Fajita veggies (20 cal)
    • Guacamole (150 cal)

Grand total: 400 calories

Not bad right? This meal had a TON of sodium, but it also had a ton of Vitamin C and A, zero cholesterol and low fats, plus lots of protein.  I could definitely go without the guacamole next time-but it’s so tasty!

The best part is most fast food chains have a nutrition calculator, so it may be a good idea to look up what you want to order online first! This is Chipotle’s calculator, in case you’re interested.

Anyway, that’s enough for healthy eating! Let me know your guys’ tips for staying healthy and fit in the comments below!

PS: I found a really informative site with a lot of great info about female body building (don’t worry, I can promise you won’t look like a female Arnold). I definitely will be using some of those tips, because I want to challenge myself.

Healthy Me

As I have written multiple times, I am at a new point in my life. I am done with my school years, and entering the so-called “real” world. The working world. The one where the “freshman 15″ and the ridiculous late nights are no longer welcome. At 23 (almost 24) I stand on the brink of adulthood. It’s a little unnerving, but inevitable none-the-less.

With this being said, I have newer and more pressing responsibilities to myself and my health. There is a Russian proverb that my grandmother tells me a lot, and it goes something like this “we spend our youth destroying our health, and our old age reaping the consequences” (or something of the sort).

So my mission is quite simple (or not). I want to get healthier, fitter, and undo the damage that the university years have done (ie: insomnia, unhealthy eating habits, and back pain).

My hope is to use my blog, not only as a place for posting things that I find interesting, beautiful, stylish, fashionable and fun, but also a place to monitor my growth in different way: my changing habits, my health, my spirituality and myself as a writer and photographer.

This is a stepping stone for me, because I have been wallowing in self-defeat for 5-6 years. I am ready to own my life, own my body, and own my emotions and feelings, and move FORWARD.

Healthy Me will be a series where I regularly post things I’ve been doing to get fit, happy and healthy.

Who wants to come on this journey with me?

{I owe it to this girl- me, 2nd grade}

Fallin’

It’s probably the last thing on your mind. You’re probably sitting on the beach, and sipping on some summer-time lemonade. Or hiking somewhere in shorts and a tank top. Or possibly going for nice long walks in the warm and soothing sunset. Fall is definitely not on your mind. However, whether you like it or not, it’s basically one more month and back to school for some, and cooler weather for all of us (unless your a Southern-Hemisphere reader). Fall also happens to be my second favorite time of the year (after Spring, of course).

With the cooler weather means warmer clothes. We will have to hide our skin with clothing, but it doesn’t have to be something we resent. Dressing up for fall is actually one of my favorite things. Boots are back, cute pea coats are in, and the shoes change from beat up and old flip flops to gorgeous heels and wedges. There is nothing better than dressing your feet up with cranberry or mustard colored shoes.

These shoes were all on the pre-fall shoes list from Anthropologie, and here are a few of my favorite picks. Of course they are pricey, but I love looking at them for color and style inspirations.

Let me know which are your favorites!

Colorblocked Mary-Jane Clogs (Coclico, $420.00)

Cut Lace D’Orsay Wedges (Farylrobin, $158.00)

Pewter Crossed Heels (Chie Mihara, $380.00)

Crossed Nerodia Wedges (Miss Albright, $168.00)

Hansa Mary-Janes (Miss Albright, $168.00)
